PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

After spending a decade working for a lovely local flower shop I decided that the time has come to take a leap, a chance - to follow my dreams! As a result I welcome you to Floral Surroundings, my new website. I am a wedding consultant and freelance floral designer.

My 35 years of experience in the floral industry began in Stockholm, Sweden where I enrolled in horticultural school in the beautiful countryside. I then enrolled in my dream school, Blomsterskolan in Norrköping, Sweden, a professional Floral Design School where I further expanded my knowledge of design and technique.

For the past 15 years I have enjoyed working with floral designers, event and wedding planners throughout Fairfield and Westchester counties. Twelve of those years were at Hansen’s Flower Shop in Fairfield where I worked with an incredible selection of high end flowers and materials. I also had the opportunity to work with some wonderful brides and their families.

I’m looking forward to sharing my love for flowers in upcoming workshops. Stay tuned!

ON A MORE PERSONAL NOTE..

In 1997 my husband and I moved to Fairfield, Connecticut where we raised our children and 2 Siamese cats. Our children are now (mostly) grown. We now have a Siamese wild-child cat named Ziggy and a chocolate lab girl named Hazel. You can follow their adventures on Instagram, @ziggy_and_hazel

I love flowers. I love colors. I love texture.

I love working with fresh flowers and transforming them into works of art that complete the look of an event, party or special occasion, at home or at a destination. My approach tends to be less formal and more whimsical and poetic. I love a good challenge!
