Washington DC 2022, First Lady’s Luncheon

I once again had the honor of volunteering for this great event in Washington DC, where the bi-partisan Congressional Club holds a luncheon in honor of the First Lady. It is an amazing opportunity to volunteer for Certified American Grown Flowers, and meet floral designers and farmers from all over the US. The importance of boosting sales for our American Farmers is an ongoing mission in DC.

I recently had the great honor to be part of the Congressional Clubs luncheon in honor of Dr Jill Biden,
We were a small team of designers & students who came from all over the country and spent a week creating the floral design for this massive event of with 1.600 guests at a hotel in Washington DC.
In a few days we created 175 centerpieces, 2 photo arches, and a head table for honorable guests, who were spouses of our Vice President, of Supreme court justices and many from the cabinet of President Biden.
We were 8 designers and 2 college students who unpacked, processed, trimmed, arranged, carried and hauled all these flowers to the biggest ballroom in Washington. This is a 108 year old tradition, has only been cancelled twice - last year due to COVID, and when the Second World War broke out.
